Self Enhancement Inc.

Self Enhancement Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to guiding underserved youth to realize their full potential. Whereas others see only statistics, they see strong students, tomorrow’s leaders, business owners and productive citizens. Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI) helps students see themselves and their potential the same way. They help them find their strengths, ignite their passion, and identify the plan that will move them in the direction of their dream. They then stay with them every step of the way – 24/7 – 365 days a year, from age 8 to 25.

Each year, across the nation, only 53% of African-American students graduate from high school, scarcely more than half. Yet, in 2008, every single one of SEI students graduated – 100%. Plus, on average, more than 85% continue on to pursue higher education or occupational training, many being the first in their families to do so. These are amazing results, despite the fact that 90% of the students in this program are faced with significant social, academic, and economic obstacles.

How do they do it? Through relationships, a culture of success, comprehensive programs and a continuum of services. These four key components underscore SEI’s success and make a difference in the lives they touch.

How can you help? Statistics say, without help, most at-risk kids aren’t going to make it. But SEI defies the statistics. They not only see the productive community members that these students will become, they make it happen, and measure both short and long term progress and outcomes. They can only do it with your continued help. Please visit their website and explore the various ways you too can make a difference. You’ll be helping a young person succeed. And when that happens, we all succeed.
